Itinerary
Day 1 – ARRIVAL IN BARCELONA
Upon arrival pick up the vehicle at the rental office and drive to the hotel. Time to relax and to refresh up. Overnight.
Day 2 – BARCELONA – City tour
Barcelona is the most dynamic and commercial cities in Spain and one of most visited European cities. See the Romans Walls and Middle Ages monuments strolling in the Old Quarter; the Modernist style buildings, some of them designated World Heritage Places; some time can be devoted to visit important museums such as Picasso or Miro. Overnight.
Day 3 – BARCELONA – VALENCIA – 350 Km
Driving by the motorway along the Mediterranean Sea you arrive in Valencia. In the Old Quarter, you can admire the Cathedral with its bell tower, the Palace of the Regional Government, several churches and the Old Silk Exchange designated a World Heritage Site
One of the most symbolic buildings is the City of the Arts and Sciences, a futuristic complex housing the L’Hemisferic, the Palace of the Arts, the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum and the Universal Oceanographic Park. These modern buildings unveil the future of Valencia for the 21st century. Overnight.
Day 4 – VALENCIA – CUENCA – TOLEDO – 350 Km
Drive to Cuenca. You might start the sightseeing tour by the “upper city” – the medieval streets that give the city its character. See the Cathedral and some other churches, the Main Square where the City Hall is located, Merce Square, the very popular Hanging Houses, built on the 15C, are the symbolic monument of the city. The Old Quarter of this city was designated a World Heritage Site
Afterwards you leave to Toledo. Overnight.
Day 5 – TOLEDO – MADRID – 90 Km
Going along the ring road, the magnificent location of this city can be appreciated, full of history where several cultures were converged. The way that Christians, Arabs and Jewish lived side by side for centuries, has been reflected in the form of a great artistic and cultural legacy.
One of the most outstanding buildings in the city is the Cathedral, considered one of the high points of Gothic art and some other nice churches including the church of Santo Tome, famous for housing El Greco’s relevant picture entitled The burial of Count Orgaz. Remains of the Jewish community are still preserved in the city in the synagogues of Santa Maria la Blanca and El Transito since medieval times. Stay in Toledo is not completed without a visit to the craft shops of the Toledo Gold, a unique way of engraving gold in other metals.
Depart to Madrid. Overnight.
Day 6 – MADRID – City tour
Madrid is the capital of Spain and the political and financial centre.
Drive through the streets, squares and most important avenues, seeing at the same time from the outside different monuments such as the Recoletos Promenade, Plaza Colon, the Cibeles Square, the Cortes or Parliament, the Paseo del Prado (where the Prado Museum is located), the Gran Via, the Plaza de España and the Plaza de Oriente where the Royal Palace and its gardens are located. Then you stroll through the “Old Madrid”, the Habsburg Quarter, walking along the Main Street and seeing the City Hall Square, the Main Square and some old back streets.
Please don’t forget to visit some of the important museums of the city like the Museum Thyssen-Bornemisza, Museum National Centre of Art Queen Sofia, the Prado Museum and some of the other places or monuments in Madrid. Overnight.
Day 7 – MADRID – SARAGOSSA – BARCELONA – 650 Km
From the centre of Spain to Catalonia, passing by Zaragoza, which is a city with 2000 years of history. It is worthy to see its Walls Roman remains, the impressive Basilica and the Seo or Cathedral.
Then you head to Barcelona. Overnight.
Day 8 – BARCELONA – DEPARTURE
Drive to the airport, drop off the car at the rental office and departure to your next destination.
