Itinerary

Day 1 – ARRIVAL MADRID

Arrival in Madrid, meet the Gamma Tours guide and transfer to the hotel. Time at leisure. Overnight.

Day 2 – MADRID – City tour – TOLEDO – 90 Km

The capital of Spain has numerous and beautiful monuments and places of interest; you drive through by the streets and avenues such as Recoletos, Castellana, Gran Via, Plaza de España and soon. You see from outside the Parliament, the Prado Museum, the modern buildings in the business area, the Royal Palace at the Plaza de Oriente.

Visit two different museums and see old ceramics as well as pottery works of art and china.

Depart to Toledo. Overnight.

Day 3 – TOLEDO – TALAVERA DE LA REINA – TOLEDO – 200 Km

The town of Talavera de la Reina, which is the centre of ceramic production of the region of Castile-La Mancha. You visit the Museum of Ceramics and Pottery. See one of the oldest pottery factories in town founded in 1849, which working system is “under cover” style. In another town, not far from there, you will visit another artisan who uses a twofold baking system and makes the decoration “over cover”, sometimes with freehand painting technique.

Return to Toledo. Overnight.

Day 4 – TOLEDO – VALENCIA – 400 Km

Toledo was one of the first Spanish cities to be designated a World Heritage Site. During the visit, you see from outside the most relevant monuments of Toledo. In Medieval times, it was the meeting point of four different cultures. It is full of monuments that you will see, some of them from outside.

From the centre of Spain, you head to Valencia located on the Mediterranean coast. Overnight.

Day 5 – VALENCIA AND ITS SURROUNDINGS – 50 km

Visit the Ceramics Museum of Manises, a very important ceramics factory and an artisan workshop that makes reproductions of 15th century ceramics, using the same materials as 500 years ago.

The Medieval Quarter of Valencia represents the historical past of the city and the modern buildings are the symbol of the 21st century.

Visit the Ceramics Museum that houses more than 5,000 pieces from the Iberian period till nowadays.

Overnight.

Day 6 – VALENCIA AND ITS SURROUNDINGS – 50 km

In the town of Tabernes Blanques is located one of the most famous ceramics factories in Spain. You see the elaboration process and an exhibition of the best objects made by the company. You will also visit the National Museum of Ceramics, displaying over 5.000 pieces from every style and period.

Day 7 – VALENCIA – BARCELONA – 350 Km

Heading north, in the surroundings of Castellon, visit one of the most modern ceramics factories in Spain. Continue to the Roman city of Tarragona and visit the Archaeological National Museum where you can find some beautiful mosaics of the Roman period. From there you head to Barcelona. Overnight.

Day 8 – BARCELONA – LA BISBAL – BARCELONA – 300 Km

Depart to the town of La Bisbal d’ Emporda, which is a ceramic town par excellence. Visit the Ceramics School; the Ceramics Museum and a workshop specialised in traditional ceramics of La Bisbal. They use the “englobe” technique. Return to Barcelona.

Day 9 – BARCELONA City tour

In Barcelona, that has several monuments designated World Heritage Sites, resides the Roman Walls and the Gothic Quarter, has one of the most important aspects, which is the huge amount of Modern Art style buildings – over 500 – in the decorative style with small pieces of ceramic tiles cut in irregular and asymmetrical forms, called “trencadis”. Discover in the Ceramics Museum the evolution of this art through the centuries. Free time. Overnight.

Day 10 – BARCELONA DEPARTURE

Time at leisure till the transfer to Barcelona Airport and departure to next destination.
